Thank you so much for joining me for this episode!

In this episode, we debate whether children's exposure to violent media and music desensitizes them to violence
. And the solution to the problem of growing numb and dumb ourselves and having children who do the same.

Yes, repeated exposure to violence in the media can be desensitizing. The amount, type, and context of the violence; the child's specific temperament and makeup; and the child's environment all have a role in whether children become violent, antisocial, or unfeeling.

With crime being so prevalent nowadays, we believe it is an issue worthy of our attention. What's concerning is that children on a typical media diet are exposed to tens of thousands of extremely violent images and concepts via movies, games, music, and even commercials. Children's brains and bodies want stimulation as they grow, which violent media undoubtedly gives. The combination renders children, particularly those with other risk factors (such as poor home circumstances or emotional issues), especially sensitive to the desensitizing effects of media violence.

Let us do the necessary Homework to keep ourselves and our children from being Comfortably Numb and desensitized to violence.
